While there are many magical beings in the world of the Black Company with apparent connections to other planes of existence or dimensions, there are also those which seem to be just part of the environment, or which are artifacts of human meddling. For the purposes of this encyclopedia, any magical entity which appears to be native to any of the sixteen mortal worlds is included in this category. Beings of obvious extraplanar origin are included in the Gods & Demons category. The creatures inhabiting the Plain of Fear are included here, however, because while they probably did "leak through" from another plane of existence at some point in the past, they have clearly established themselves in this world for ages.
